West Ham have checked on Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, 21, who is on loan at Sheffield Wednesday. The Northern Ireland international has also attracted interest from Leicester City while Atalanta scouts watched him last month. Charles, 21, joined Southampton from Manchester City last year in a deal worth £12m. The Citizens' academy has raked in dozens of millions over the past few years with Southampton a chief buyer. Samuel Edozie, Gavin Bazanu, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Romeo Lavia joining Charles on the south coast.
