A GIANT wind turbine blade made its approach via Hawick in the Scottish Borders on Saturday afternoon.

It was heading to the brand new Pines Burn Wind Farm, and is the ninth out of 21 blades that have to be transported there.

Transporting the mega sized blades causes vital visitors disruption and has beforehand attracted local vandals.

In November, the tyres of the car transporting one of the turbines was slashed by local thugs close to Hawick.

Residents hit out on the deliveries of the rotors to the wind farm, situated 5 miles away, following hours of restricted visitors.

The turbines are protected by a specifically educated Police Scotland escort as they are categorised as abnormal masses.

The venture had initially been turned down by the council over its repercussions, and the firm in control of becoming the blades near Hawick was condemned by locals.

However the Scottish Government ruled some great benefits of the undertaking would override any penalties on panorama.
